I’m excited to announce that I’ll be working with Global Volunteers, a non-profit organization that does great work in underserved communities across the world. Global Volunteers was founded in 1984 and is based out of Minnesota. They work with partners on the ground in locations where essential services are needed. These services range from providing healthcare to labour assistance to education, and more. The work of Global Volunteers is far-reaching, as they have programs established on virtually every continent.
My own service program takes place from July 4th to 18th in Maleviziou, Greece, which is located on the island of Crete. I’ll be teaching English to underserved youth with my fellow volunteers at a summer camp. As a Program Reporter for the Greece Service Program, I’ll be posting updates regularly about my experiences with teaching and interacting with other volunteers and community members. In my free time, I’ll also be writing about some of my sightseeing experiences in Greece during my two week stay there (all tourist activity is unaffiliated with Global Volunteers).
Their Greece service program is one of many available to prospective volunteers, and teaching English is certainly not the only essential service that you can provide. Check out the link to their website below, and find the volunteer adventure that excites and motivates you to make a difference!
